
Gwendolyn (Gwen) Jones has been a professional musician for over 40 years. As an award-winning mezzo soprano, her career has spanned 82 roles in over 42 opera companies throughout the United States, including New York City Opera, San Francisco Opera, Houston Grand Opera, New Orleans Opera, and the Metropolitan Opera. Internationally, Ms. Jones has appeared in operas and festivals in Italy, Brazil, Canada, Bulgaria, the Dominican Republic, and Israel.
Ms. Jones received her Bachelors of Music degree from Oklahoma City University in 1971, and was named to the OCU Hall of Fame in 1986. She has been the winner of numerous competitions, awards, and grants, including two National Opera Institute grants, a Sullivan Foundation grant, and two residencies as a Sears Roebuck Affiliate artist. Additionally, Ms. Jones has taught Master classes at Louisiana State University, Temple University, Loyola College of Music, and for the Des Moines Metro Opera Apprentice Artist Program.
